With a keen interest in building and architecture, Simon has invested over 30 years of his life to residential renovations and construction, with 25 of these as the owner of his own company. Originally operating in Newcastle, an attraction to Tasmania saw his business hop across Bass Strait where he had the great honour of working on the famed Mona Museum as lead estimator before re-establishing his business.
Simon’s career began in his teens where he learnt the fine art of carpentry before becoming a qualified builder and when you talk to him today you can tell he has never lost his enjoyment of building and construction. If the truth be told, however, what he really loves is an accolade and the best way to achieve these is to delight his customers on every, single project.
Simon would love for this profile to talk about his golfing ability, which is limited, or even his success at the racetrack which he avoids because he hates losing money. Instead his weekends are generally spent with his son either watching him playing basketball or at the beach, lounging. And in a career that has spanned 30 years, Simon still enjoys engaging with customers, listening to their ideas and aspirations so he can turn them into reality. “True job satisfaction,” he says, “comes from the accolade. You only get those when the customer is happy.” Feels good.
