A Family’s Forever Home

Less than a half-hour from the beach, Katikati homeowners Sandra and Mat loved their neighbourhood and were keen to stay in their home, which they’d built over 15 years ago. However, their early 2000s design choices did not age well – it was time for an update.
The kitchen, bathroom, and ensuite were the main areas that required improvement, but the homeowners weren’t sure how to approach the renovation process. So, to ensure the project was done right, they reached out to local Renovation Partner Peter Jenkins.

Cost and Timeline Details

As Sandra and Mat intended on staying in their home for years to come, they were happy to invest in the renovation. However, they still had a rough idea of how much they wanted to spend. Peter worked with the homeowners to ensure the final concept fell in line with their ideal budget.
The total cost of this home renovation came in at $130,000, and the build phase was carried out over 1.5 months by Peter’s renovation team.

A Classic Kitchen with Industrial Flair

The renovated kitchen is classic in design, though it features hints of industrial style.
Soft grey shaker cabinets decorated with stylish oversized handles create the base of the kitchen, establishing a beautiful traditional look while providing ample storage. And it’s these elegant details that have set the tone for the rest of the kitchen’s design.
White subway tiling and marble benchtops combine beautifully with the cabinetry. However, the marble texture is most striking across the new waterfall kitchen island. Complete with a statement timber kickboard, the island contributes an industrial flair that’s further enhanced by the black pendant lights hung above; it’s an elegant twist on the otherwise classic design.
New appliances, including dual dish drawers, dual ovens, and a chic black fridge, ultimately improve the kitchen’s functionality and seamlessly fit into the cool-toned colour scheme.

The Modern Bathroom and Ensuite

The bathroom and ensuite have been upgraded with similar interior designs, including floating timber vanities with double basins, subway-tiled splashbacks, and black-framed glass showers. These modern additions provide significant functional improvements, but they also establish a stylish look.
The black hardware is a notably stunning detail. Not only used for the shower frames, the matte black finish features across the showerheads, tapware, handles, and towel rails too.
While the rooms are primarily cohesive in design, the main bathroom’s navy accent wall creates a beautiful backdrop for the deep oval bathtub. Although, the tub’s freestanding faucet makes a statement of its own and ties in with the bathroom’s other chrome hardware.

Beautiful Results

Having their home’s renovation professionally managed by Peter Jenkins allowed Sandra and Mat to relax throughout the process. Not only did the project keep within budget, but it was also completed to an excellent standard. Quality can be found in all corners of the renewed spaces.
The final results are luxurious. Using a combination of classic style and modern design has re-established the kitchen and bathrooms with a fresh look that’s not without character. Peter and his renovation have created exactly what the homeowners set out to achieve, and the renovated interiors are now theirs to enjoy for many years to come.
